As the holidays approach, our calendars fill up with to-do lists, events, shopping, and preparations. While this time of year is meant to be filled with joy and thanksgiving, it can often feel overwhelming. The pressure to create the perfect holiday can weigh us down, leaving us anxious and stressed. But in moments of chaos, God calls us to pause, to breathe, and to find peace in Him.
Scripture Focus:
"Be still, and know that I am God." - Psalm 46:10
"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." - Matthew 11:28
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." - Philippians 4:6-7
God reminds us to slow down and refocus on Him. When our minds are racing with worries and our hearts are heavy, the simple act of pausing to take a breath and turn our focus to Him can bring clarity and peace. Breathing deeply reminds us of His Spirit, the very breath of life that sustains us (Genesis 2:7).
Reflection:
When holiday stress starts to creep in, take a moment to simply breathe. Close your eyes and breathe deeply, inhaling God’s peace and exhaling your worries. Use this time to pray, remembering that God doesn’t expect perfection from us. He desires our presence, not our perfection.
Ask yourself:
What can I let go of that’s adding unnecessary stress this season?
How can I make space to breathe and rest in God’s presence each day?
A Prayer to Breathe: Heavenly Father, thank You for being my peace in the midst of stress. Help me to pause and breathe when I feel overwhelmed, remembering that You are in control. Teach me to focus on the joy and simplicity of this season rather than striving for perfection. Let Your peace guard my heart and mind. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
This holiday season, remember: life isn’t about rushing through the moments. Take time to breathe, to savor God’s blessings, and to rest in His peace.
